Speed limits on the following sections of our County Roads have recently been lowered by the passing of a Township Ordinance and a Concurring Resolution by the County of Union.  
The reductions are as indicated below:

Martine Avenue between King Street and Cooper Road - 35 MPH

Martine Avenue between Cooper Road and Raritan Road - 40 MPH

Terrill Road between King Street and Raritan Road - 35 MPH

Raritan Road between Terrill Road and Lake Avenue - 35 MPH

Raritan Road between Lake Avenue and Lamberts Mill Road - 25 MPH

As a reminder, there are several clearly marked 25 MPH "School Zones" in the above listed section of roads.  

They are:

Union Catholic High School on Martine Avenue

Union County Vocational-Technical Schools on Raritan Road

Terrill Middle School on Terrill Road

Signs are posted.  Please drive safely.

Traffic Bureau

The Traffic Bureau falls under the command of the Support Services Division and provides support to the Township by assisting the Planning, Zoning and Code Enforcement Departments. The Bureau conducts site plan reviews, inspections and provides feedback and reports to the local governing body on engineering and construction projects.

* Responsibility for providing traffic flow plans for major events.

* Making use of specialized equipment such as the variable message board, speed trailer, motorcycles.

* Coordinating joint enforcement details in conjunction with the New Jersey State Department of Transportation and the New Jersey State
Motor Vehicle Commission.

* Participating in regular projects such as Occupant safety “Click-it-or-ticket”, DWI “You Drink You Drive You Lose”, and “Aggressive Driver” campaigns.

* Liaison with State and County Officials.

* Special Enforcement details.

* Special Police Officers

* Crossing Guards

* Police Towing

If you transport children in your car or van, make the right choice for them, and yourself. Every vehicle passenger should be restrained. If you don't currently use your safety belt, decide now to make a concerted effort to get used to wearing it. After about a month, it will become a habit that may save your life, or significantly reduce injuries.
