Scotch Plains Police Department Announces Promotions By JOHN MOONEY

Officer Andrew Gitto (pronounced 'Jitto'), was sworn in as the newest member of the Scotch Plains Police Department on May 15, 2017. Officer Gitto transferred to the Scotch Plains PD after working for two years with the Warren County Sheriff's Office. Andrew was raised in Phillipsburg NJ with his parents Greg and JoAnn Gitto. He graduated from Phillipsburg HS in 2008 and enlisted in the US Marines Corps as an Infantryman. Off. Gitto was deployed twice to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in February 2009 and in July 2011.
He received numerous awards during his years of service receiving the Purple Heart, Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal and Marine Corps Presidential Unit Citation. Off. Gitto enjoys golfing, fishing, watching sports and spending time with his family. It is with great pleasure that we welcome Off. Andrew Gitto as the newest member of the Scotch Plains Police family.
